Amaryl 2 mg Tablets contain glimepiride, a potent sulfonylurea that stimulates insulin release from pancreatic beta cells in a glucose-dependent manner. Indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise for adults with type 2 diabetes when glycaemic control is inadequate with lifestyle measures alone, or in combination with metformin, other oral agents, or insulin. Provides effective 24-hour blood glucose control with once-daily dosing due to long duration of action. The 2 mg strength is a common maintenance dose after initial titration from 1 mg.
