Product Description
Astatin 20mg Tablets 30 Tablets is a statin medication containing atorvastatin calcium, used to lower elevated cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of heart-related problems. Atorvastatin inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, the enzyme that controls cholesterol synthesis in the liver, leading to decreased LDL (“bad”) cholesterol, total cholesterol, triglycerides and apolipoprotein B, while increasing HDL (“good”) cholesterol. It is commonly prescribed for: Primary hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol) Mixed dyslipidemia Heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia Prevention of cardiovascular events (heart attack, stroke) in patients with risk factors (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, smoking, family history) Secondary prevention after heart attack or stroke The tablets are film-coated for easier swallowing and the 30-tablet pack provides a convenient 1-month supply (once daily dosing). It is often started at 10–20mg and may be titrated up to 80mg based on cholesterol response and tolerability. Astatin should be used with diet, exercise and lifestyle changes for best results.
