Atacand Plus 16/12.5 mg combines candesartan cilexetil (an ARB that relaxes blood vessels by blocking angiotensin II) with hydrochlorothiazide (a thiazide diuretic that removes excess salt and water through urine). This dual action provides stronger and more consistent blood pressure reduction than either component alone, making it especially useful when single-agent therapy is not sufficient. It is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension (high blood pressure) in adults whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with candesartan or hydrochlorothiazide monotherapy.
