Cefix 400 mg Capsules contain cefixime, a broad-spectrum third-generation cephalosporin that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis. Highly effective against Gram-negative organisms (E. coli, Klebsiella, Proteus, Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis) and some Gram-positive (Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes). Indicated for uncomplicated urinary tract infections, otitis media, pharyngitis/tonsillitis, acute bronchitis, acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, and uncomplicated gonorrhoea. Excellent oral bioavailability and long half-life allow convenient once-daily dosing with good tissue penetration. The 5-capsule pack is ideal for short courses (e.g., 5 days for many infections or single dose for gonorrhoea).
