Ceftriaxone 1g Intramuscular Antibiotic Injection

• Ceftriaxone 1g powder for IM injection – third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic • Broad-spectrum bactericidal action against Gram+ and Gram– bacteria • Once-daily dosing due to long half-life (~8 hours) • Indicated for severe infections: pneumonia, meningitis, gonorrhoea, sepsis, intra-abdominal infections, bone/joint infections, surgical prophylaxis • Requires reconstitution with 1% lidocaine (IM) or sterile water (IV) • Prescription-only, hospital/clinic use or outpatient with nurse administration • 1g vial – single-dose glass vial with flip-off seal

Ceftriaxone 1g IM is a sterile cephalosporin that inhibits bacterial cell-wall synthesis (PBP binding). Excellent tissue penetration including CSF (meningitis treatment). Highly effective against Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, and many anaerobes. IM route achieves peak plasma levels in 1–2 hours; bioavailability ~100%. Usual adult dose 1–2g once daily; gonorrhoea single 500mg–1g dose.
