Cefutil 500 mg Tablets contain cefuroxime axetil, a prodrug that converts to cefuroxime in the body for broad-spectrum activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria (including beta-lactamase-producing strains). Indicated for upper respiratory tract infections (sinusitis, otitis media, pharyngitis/tonsillitis), lower respiratory tract infections (acute bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia), uncomplicated urinary tract infections, skin/soft tissue infections, and Lyme disease (early stage). Provides good tissue penetration and is effective where amoxicillin resistance is suspected. The 500 mg strength allows convenient twice-daily dosing with high efficacy.
