Co-Amvasc 5/160Mg Tab 28S is a fixed-dose combination prescription antihypertensive tablet containing amlodipine 5mg (a calcium channel blocker) and valsartan 160mg (an angiotensin II receptor blocker, ARB). This dual combination provides two complementary mechanisms of blood pressure reduction in a single once-daily tablet, simplifying the antihypertensive regimen for patients requiring combination therapy and improving long-term treatment adherence. Amlodipine relaxes peripheral vascular smooth muscle by blocking voltage-gated L-type calcium channels, reducing peripheral vascular resistance and lowering blood pressure without significantly affecting cardiac conduction.
