Product Description
Ferosac Injection is an intravenous iron sucrose complex used to treat iron deficiency anemia in patients with chronic kidney disease (on dialysis), inflammatory bowel disease, pregnancy (2nd/3rd trimester), or when oral iron therapy fails or causes intolerance. Each 5mL ampoule delivers 100 mg elemental iron in a stable sucrose complex that mimics physiological ferritin, allowing safe administration without free iron toxicity. It rapidly increases hemoglobin, ferritin, and transferrin saturation levels. Administered by slow IV injection or infusion in clinical settings, it is preferred for its favorable safety profile compared to older iron preparations. Benefits: • Effectively corrects iron deficiency and anemia quickly • Well-tolerated with lower risk of serious allergic reactions • Suitable for patients unable to take or absorb oral iron • Rapid rise in hemoglobin (often within 2–4 weeks) • Improves energy, fatigue, and quality of life in anemic patients • Convenient dosing schedule (typically 1–3 ampoules per week) How to Use:• Administered only by healthcare professionals via slow IV injection or infusion • Test dose recommended for first administration • Typical adult dose: 100–200 mg (1–2 ampoules) 1–3 times weekly until target reached • Dilute in 0.9% saline for infusion; do not mix with other drugs • Monitor vital signs during and 30 minutes after administration • Calculate total dose based on hemoglobin and body weight (Ganzoni formula) • Store at room temperature; do not freeze; use immediately after opening
