Product Description
G-Zide MR 60 mg is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults when diet, exercise, and weight loss alone are insufficient. The modified-release (MR) technology allows the tablet to release gliclazide gradually over 24 hours, providing smooth blood-glucose control with a single daily dose and lower risk of hypoglycaemia compared to immediate-release gliclazide taken twice daily. Benefits • Effective 24-hour glucose control with once-daily dosing • Lower incidence of hypoglycaemia than glibenclamide or older sulfonylureas • Proven cardiovascular safety profile (ADVANCE study with gliclazide MR) • Can be used alone or in combination with metformin, DPP-4 inhibitors, SGLT2 inhibitors, or insulin • Convenient – can be taken with breakfast regardless of meal timing • Scored tablet – can be halved to 30 mg if dose reduction needed How to Use • Usual adult dose: 30–120 mg once daily – Starting: 30 mg (½ tablet) – Maintenance: 60 mg or 120 mg (1 or 2 tablets) • Take with or just before breakfast • Swallow whole or break along score line – do not crush or chew (destroys MR mechanism) • Regular blood-glucose monitoring and HbA1c checks required Important Warnings Risk of hypoglycaemia (especially if meals are skipped or alcohol consumed) Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis Caution in elderly, renal impairment, or G6PD deficiency Stop and contact doctor immediately if symptoms of low blood sugar (sweating, shakiness, confusion) occur
