Galvus Met 50/850 mg Tablets combine vildagliptin (a DPP-4 inhibitor that enhances incretin hormones to increase insulin release and decrease glucagon) with metformin (improves insulin sensitivity and reduces hepatic glucose production). Indicated as second-line therapy in type 2 diabetes when diet/exercise plus metformin or vildagliptin alone is insufficient, or as initial therapy in patients poorly controlled on metformin monotherapy. Provides effective glycaemic control with low risk of hypoglycaemia and weight neutrality. The 50/850 mg strength is a common maintenance dose for moderate control.
