Glim 1 mg is a once-daily sulfonylurea that stimulates insulin release from pancreatic beta cells. It is used in type 2 diabetes mellitus when diet, exercise and weight reduction alone are insufficient. The 1 mg strength is ideal for starting treatment or for patients well-controlled on low doses. Benefits • Effective 24-hour blood glucose control with single daily dose • Strong post-prandial glucose reduction • Low risk of hypoglycaemia compared to older sulfonylureas at equivalent doses • Once-daily dosing improves patient adherence • Can be used alone or combined with metformin, DPP-4 inhibitors, SGLT2 inhibitors or insulin • Well-established cardiovascular safety profile How to Use • Take once daily, immediately before or with the first main meal (usually breakfast) • Starting dose is normally 1 mg daily • Dose may be increased gradually (1–2 mg steps) every 1–2 weeks according to blood glucose response • Maximum recommended dose is 6 mg daily (higher doses rarely more effective) • Swallow whole with water – do not crush or chew • If a dose is missed, take with the next meal – do not double dose • Regular blood glucose monitoring and HbA1c checks required
