Product Description
Glim 2 mg Tablets contain glimepiride, a long-acting sulfonylurea that lowers blood glucose in type 2 diabetes mellitus when diet, exercise, and weight reduction alone are insufficient. It works primarily by stimulating insulin secretion from functioning pancreatic beta cells and improving insulin sensitivity. Once-daily dosing provides 24-hour glycaemic control with low risk of hypoglycaemia compared to older sulfonylureas. Suitable for monotherapy or in combination with metformin or insulin. Benefits • Effective once-daily dosing for better compliance • Strong HbA1c reduction (1–2% typical) • Low incidence of severe hypoglycaemia • Weight-neutral or slight weight loss in some patients • Rapid onset with 24-hour duration of action • Can be combined with metformin, DPP-4 inhibitors, or insulin How to Use • Usual starting dose: 1–2 mg once daily with breakfast or first main meal • Maximum dose: 8 mg once daily • Take whole with water immediately before or during breakfast • Dose adjustment every 1–2 weeks based on blood glucose monitoring • Elderly, malnourished, or renal-impaired patients: start with 1 mg • Monitor blood glucose regularly, especially when starting or changing dose • Risk of hypoglycaemia increases with missed meals, alcohol, or strenuous exercise
