Glimelife 2 mg Tablets contain glimepiride, a long-acting sulfonylurea that lowers blood glucose by stimulating insulin secretion and improving peripheral insulin sensitivity. It is indicated as monotherapy or in combination with metformin/insulin for type 2 diabetes when diet, exercise, and weight reduction fail. Glimepiride has a rapid onset and 24-hour duration, reducing postprandial and fasting glucose levels. It carries a lower risk of hypoglycemia than older sulfonylureas and is weight-neutral in most patients.
