Glucovance 500/2.5 mg Tablets combine metformin (improves insulin sensitivity and reduces hepatic glucose production) with glibenclamide (stimulates insulin release from pancreas). Indicated as second-line therapy in type 2 diabetes when diet/exercise plus maximum tolerated metformin alone is insufficient, or as replacement for patients stabilised on separate metformin and sulfonylurea tablets. Provides enhanced glycaemic control with complementary mechanisms and convenient once- or twice-daily dosing.
