Hyopan Syrup contains hyoscine butylbromide (also known as scopolamine butylbromide), a quaternary ammonium antimuscarinic that relaxes smooth muscle in the gastrointestinal, biliary, and genitourinary tracts. Indicated for symptomatic relief of abdominal pain and cramps associated with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), infantile colic, spasmodic dysmenorrhoea, biliary colic, and renal colic. The liquid formulation allows flexible dosing, especially in children and patients who have difficulty swallowing tablets. Provides rapid onset (within 15–30 minutes) and duration of 4–6 hours without significant central nervous system effects due to poor blood-brain barrier penetration.
