Product Description
Imavir 3% Eye Ointment contains aciclovir, a potent antiviral that selectively inhibits herpes simplex virus replication in the cornea. It is the first-line treatment for herpes simplex keratitis (dendritic or geographic ulcers), stromal keratitis, and herpes-related conjunctivitis/blepharitis. Applied 5 times daily, it rapidly reduces viral load, relieves pain, promotes corneal healing, and significantly lowers the risk of scarring or vision loss when started early. Benefits • Clinically proven to shorten duration of herpes eye infections • Prevents progression to deeper stromal disease • Reduces pain, redness, tearing, and light sensitivity • Safe and effective in both adults and children • Minimal systemic absorption • Established gold-standard treatment for over 30 years How to Use • Adults and children: apply a 1 cm ribbon of ointment into the lower conjunctival sac 5 times daily (approximately every 4 hours, omitting night dose) • Continue for at least 3 days after complete healing (usually 7–14 days total) • Wash hands before and after application • Pull lower eyelid down gently and squeeze ointment inside without touching the eye or eyelashes • Blink several times to spread ointment; close eye for 1–2 minutes • Remove contact lenses before use; wait 15 minutes before reinserting • If using eye drops as well, apply drops first, then wait 5 minutes before ointment
