Janumet 50/500 mg Tablets combine sitagliptin (a DPP-4 inhibitor that enhances incretin hormones to increase insulin release and decrease glucagon) with metformin (improves insulin sensitivity and reduces hepatic glucose production). Indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise in adults with type 2 diabetes when metformin alone is insufficient, or in combination with other antidiabetics (sulfonylurea, PPARγ agonist, or insulin). Provides effective glycaemic control with low risk of hypoglycaemia and weight neutrality. The 50/500 mg strength is a common starting or maintenance dose.
