Product Description
Maxidex Eye Drops contain dexamethasone, a highly potent synthetic corticosteroid that suppresses inflammation by inhibiting multiple inflammatory pathways (prostaglandins, leukotrienes, and immune cell migration). Indicated for steroid-responsive inflammatory conditions of the eye including allergic conjunctivitis, uveitis (anterior), keratitis (non-purulent), post-operative inflammation, and other corticosteroid-sensitive ocular disorders. The suspension provides sustained anti-inflammatory action with shake-well delivery for uniform dosing. Clinically proven to rapidly reduce symptoms while minimising systemic absorption when used as directed. Benefits: • Rapid relief from redness, swelling, itching, and pain (often within 1–2 days) • Effective for allergic, post-surgical, and inflammatory eye conditions • Shake-well suspension ensures consistent dosing • Low systemic absorption – suitable for short-term use • Preservative system minimises irritation risk • Suitable for adults and children (under medical supervision) How to Use: • Adults and children >2 years: usual dose 1–2 drops into affected eye(s) every 4–6 hours (or as directed)• Shake bottle vigorously before each use to resuspend particles • Tilt head back, pull lower lid down, instil drops without touching tip to eye • Close eye and press on inner corner (nasolacrimal duct) for 1 minute to reduce systemic absorption • Wait 5–10 minutes before applying other eye drops • Short-term use only (typically 5–14 days maximum); taper dose to avoid rebound • Regular intraocular pressure monitoring recommended (risk of steroid-induced glaucoma) • Do not use with contact lenses – remove lenses before instillation, reinsert after 15 minutes
