Omacip 500mg contains ciprofloxacin, one of the most potent oral antibiotics against Gram-negative bacteria (including Pseudomonas) and many Gram-positive organisms. It inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, preventing replication. Still first-line for complicated UTIs, traveller’s diarrhoea, chronic bacterial prostatitis and certain anthrax exposures. Standard adult dose 500mg twice daily (or 1000mg XR once daily for UTIs).
