Optifucin Viscous Eye Drops contain fusidic acid 1% in a carbomer-based viscous gel formulation (Fucithalmic alternative). On application, the thick gel liquefies due to eye temperature and tear pH, spreading evenly across the conjunctival sac and providing sustained release of the antibiotic. It is indicated for the treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis, blepharitis, sty, keratitis, and dacryocystitis caused by susceptible staphylococcal and other gram-positive organisms. The viscous formulation allows twice-daily dosing with excellent ocular tolerance and minimal blurring of vision after application.
