Plavix 75 mg Tablets contain clopidogrel, a potent inhibitor of platelet aggregation that irreversibly blocks the P2Y12 ADP receptor on platelets, preventing clot formation. Indicated for secondary prevention of atherothrombotic events in adults with recent myocardial infarction (MI), ischaemic stroke, or established peripheral arterial disease (PAD). Also used in acute coronary syndrome (ACS) – with or without stenting – often in combination with aspirin. Provides sustained antiplatelet effect with once-daily dosing and proven reduction in cardiovascular events (CAPRIE, CURE, COMMIT studies). The 75 mg dose is the standard maintenance dose after optional loading dose (300 mg).
