Product Description
0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection USP 100mL is a sterile, nonpyrogenic isotonic solution of sodium chloride in water for injection, commonly known as normal saline. Each 100mL contains 900mg sodium chloride, providing 154 mEq/L sodium and 154 mEq/L chloride, with an osmolarity of approximately 308 mOsmol/L and pH 5.6 (range 4.5-7.0). It is supplied in a single-dose flexible plastic bag for intravenous use, with no bacteriostat or antimicrobial agents. This solution is a standard parenteral fluid used in hospitals and clinics for hydration, dilution of medications, and electrolyte balance. Benefits • Restores extracellular fluid volume in dehydration • Replenishes sodium and chloride electrolytes • Serves as a vehicle for compatible IV drug dilution and administration • Treats mild sodium depletion and metabolic alkalosis with fluid loss • Isotonic composition prevents red blood cell damage • Provides a source of water for hydration in clinical settings How to Use • Administered intravenously by trained healthcare professionals only • Inspect bag for leaks or particulates before use; do not use if compromised • Use aseptic technique for spiking and connection to IV line • Infuse at prescribed rate; may be used alone or for drug admixture • Single-dose container: Discard unused portion • Monitor patient for fluid overload, electrolyte imbalance, or infusion reactions • Store at room temperature; protect from freezing
