Product Description
Tafixyl 500 mg Tablets contain tranexamic acid, a synthetic antifibrinolytic that inhibits plasminogen activation, stabilising blood clots and reducing breakdown of fibrin. Indicated for short-term management of heavy menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia), prevention/treatment of bleeding after surgery (e.g., dental extraction in haemophiliacs, prostatectomy, cervical surgery), epistaxis, and acute attacks of hereditary angioedema. Provides effective reduction in blood loss with oral dosing and good tolerability when used as directed. Benefits • Significantly reduces heavy menstrual blood loss (up to 50%) • Helps control bleeding after surgical or dental procedures • Rapid onset – effective within 1–3 hours • Short-course treatment (usually 3–5 days for menorrhagia) • Lower risk of thrombosis when used at recommended doses and duration • Can be used in patients with bleeding disorders under specialist supervision How to Use • Heavy menstrual bleeding: 1 g (2 tablets) 3 times daily for up to 4 days (maximum 4 g/day) • Surgical/dental bleeding: 1–1.5 g (2–3 tablets) 2–3 times daily, duration as prescribed • Hereditary angioedema: 1–1.5 g 2–3 times daily intermittently or continuously • Take with or without food – swallow whole with water • Do not exceed maximum dose or duration without medical advice • Contraindicated in active thromboembolic disease or history of thrombosis
