Product Description
Xifaxan 200 mg Tablet is a gut-selective, broad-spectrum, non-absorbable antibiotic containing rifaximin. It works primarily in the gastrointestinal tract with less than 0.4% systemic absorption, reducing the risk of systemic side effects and drug interactions. Xifaxan is clinically proven for the treatment of traveler’s diarrhea caused by non-invasive strains of Escherichia coli in adults and children ≥12 years of age. It is also indicated for the reduction in risk of overt hepatic encephalopathy (HE) recurrence in adults with advanced liver disease by decreasing ammonia-producing intestinal bacteria. The minimally absorbed nature allows targeted action against pathogenic bacteria while preserving beneficial gut flora. Xifaxan has a favorable safety profile and is generally well tolerated.
