Xigduo XR combines two complementary glucose-lowering mechanisms: Dapagliflozin removes excess glucose through urine and provides cardiovascular/renal protection Metformin XR reduces hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity It is indicated as an adjunct to diet & exercise in adults with type 2 diabetes when metformin alone is inadequate, or alongside other antidiabetics (including insulin). Additionally licensed to reduce risk of heart failure hospitalisation and cardiovascular death in patients with established cardiovascular disease or multiple risk factors.
